Artist Spotlight: Huntsville’s Jay Money is making his way in the music industry
Jay$ aka James K Logan, Jr born August 24, 1987, in Huntsville, Alabama. Jay is from the streets of Berkley & Hazel Green Alabama. His original stage name, Jay, stems from his childhood nickname.
He later changed it to Jay money. He gradually established himself as a successful producer in early 2013. Jay's money has been active in helping the community. He works with the youth In Huntsville Al, providing scholarships for single-parent families at the Boys and Girls Clubs. He has had a successful investment career, and he has opened six of his own businesses as an entrepreneur. Jay stated, “ My favorite artists today are T.I., DaBaby, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, André 3000, & Too $hort. I'm on my way to meeting them at the top”.
In 2020 the Huntsville native transitioned from only being a producer/entrepreneur to a musical artist. He released his music on all streaming platforms in 2020 for the first time. Jay is also the CEO of Rocket City Records a Huntsville, Alabama-based hip-hop record label specializing in artist management development, marketing, and distribution founded in 2013, It currently operates as an independent record label.
The label is home to artists such as Jai problem, CloudNiNe9, and Gbandz, Sherm Smith, the latter of whom also serves as the label’s vice president. The label also houses a roster of producers, and DJs (on a non-exclusive basis), they are definitely setting up for a new wave of great music to roll out of the south. The great thing is Jay doesn’t limit his company to just the south, he looks for artists in every city that can be trend-setting. As of now, the roster has artists from New York, Pennsylvania, DMV, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia.
